Harness the power of the sun and produce your own hot water with solar thermal panels. You could make significant savings on your energy bills and earn income through the Renewable Heat Incentive.
As you will be generating your own hot water, you will save up to 60-70% on what you currently spend on water heating.
Protection from rising energy costs
Energy costs are anticipated to rise considerably - you can protect yourself against rising costs by heating your water with free solar energy.
Get paid for the heat you generate
With the UK Government's Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, you will be paid for all of the heat your solar thermal panels generate. Renewable Heat Incentive payments are made to you quarterly for 7 years and are tax-free and increase in line with inflation.
Preserves the environment
The sun is a sustainable energy source. Switching to solar energy helps to reduce pollution, lessen our dependence on finite fuels and reduce your CO2 emissions.
How solar thermal panels work
Solar thermal systems use panels, known as "collectors", that are usually (but not always) fitted to a roof. A solar collector heats up to temperatures significantly above the ambient air temperature and this heat is absorbed by heat transfer fluid within the collectors. This fluid passes through the collectors, round the system and on to a cylinder or thermal store via a coil, at which point the heat is transferred to water within the cylinder or store. The heat transfer fluid then returns to the collector to be warmed by the sun and the process repeats.
