SOLARWALL'S BRIGHT IDEA IS THE ENERGY CENTRE
Yorkshire based renewable energy specialist, Solarwall, is opening its doors to the region’s first ‘Energy Centre’ - a resource centre designed to educate and promote the economic and environmental benefits of renewable technologies to homeowners, businesses and local authorities.
The launch of the Energy Centre, based at Clifton, York, taps into the current rapid expansion of the renewable energy market, fuelled further by the introduction of Feed In Tariffs (FIT) in April 2010 and the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) coming in April 2011.
Its aim is to encourage people to think about home energy management and show how, by installing simple energy saving devices, home owners can save money, as well as protect the environment.
A one-stop-shop for home energy systems, the showroom will showcase products such as ground and air source heat pumps, energy saving lighting, power savers, solar thermal systems and solar photovoltaics.
Advisory and technical staff will be available on site, and a customer advice telephone line will also operate.
The brainchild of Sue Lamb, Managing Director of Solarwall, and Grant Henderson, Head of Renewables, it is a market-driven initiative which enables Solarwall to enhance the range of services available to its customers, to broaden its customer base, and to continue the growth and development of this thriving business
Grant Henderson comments: “Solarwall has been in business over 30 years and we have established a very strong base in Yorkshire. We want to encourage our domestic customers to think about how they use energy in their homes, and we provide effective energy solutions for all customers, business partners and local authorities with whom we work.
We are looking to establish the Energy Centre as the first point of contact for anyone interested in improving the way in which they use energy, in reducing their energy bills, or in reducing their impact on our environment”.
He continues: “Greener living and clean energy are high on the political agenda as evidenced by the recent introduction of feed-in tariffs for domestic renewable electricity and the Renewable Heat incentive planned for April 2011, both of which provide significant financial incentives to people installing non-fossil fuel systems. The extra awareness and interest this creates highlights the need to enable customers to see and understand the various systems and technologies now available, hence our decision to establish the Energy Centre”.
“We have big plans for the Energy Centre and as well as encouraging people to come and see us, we will also be taking it out on the road through our mobile displays, visiting schools and community groups, and also hosting seminars at the Centre for architects, builders and business groups.”
The Energy Centre, which opens to the public on 26 May 2010, also features a carbon-free meeting room which will be used to host seminars and workshops and which will also be available for hire by local businesses.
