 Scouts will benefit from insulation

Egglescliffe Scout Hall
A PARTNERSHIP between Stockton Council and Solarwall has given an energy efficiency boost to a troop of local scouts.
The local scout troop in Egglescliffe has lived by the motto of Be prepared for Winter by having their Scout Hall insulated .
As the Scout hall was very cold and difficult to heat; the treasurer Karen Brown asked the Energy Efficiency Department at Stockton Borough Council for their advice on making the Hall warmer. The council advised on insulation as the most cost effective means of cutting down the heating costs, keeping the warmth in longer and making the Hall more comfortable to work in. As they are currently working in partnership with Solarwall on their private sector scheme they asked them for some help.
The work was carried out on a Friday in half term so that the Scouts could attend the installation and learn how cavity wall insulation was installed. The two installation teams from Solarwall instructed the Scouts in how the property is drilled and how the insulation material is pumped into the walls to ensure that the walls are full of insulation. The morning event was also attended by delegates from Stockton Borough Council and to ensure the safety of Scouts and the delegates; Solarwalls Health & Safety Manager was on hand to ensure that everything went smoothly.
Councillor Jennie Beaumont, Stockton Councils Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: "Insulating cavity walls and lofts could not only save householders hundreds of pounds a year on fuel bills, but would also reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by one tonne per household per year which would help tackle climate change."
Karen Brown, Treasurer of the 1st Egglescliffe Scout Group, said: "We are delighted to get our cavity wall insulation fitted for free. I would like to give a special thanks to Stockton Council and Solarwall. It is very much appreciated by everyone in the group."
