 Fothergil Homes is based at Clifton, York, and the installation is being funded by a government initiated grant by npower. Solarwall works in partnership with local authorities, regional energy saving schemes and utilities to deliver energy efficiency to many different projects like this in the Yorkshire region.
The company actively promotes grant aided schemes to householders and grants of up to 100% are available to those on low incomes or receiving certain income related benefits.
Fothergil resident Jean Crook, aged 75, said: “It’s much warmer since we’ve had the insulation put in. The men at Solarwall were really nice, polite and smartly dressed! They cleaned up after themselves and got on with it!”
Richard Watson, Clerk to York City Charities, explained: “The cost of fuel often hits the headlines, particularly with the arrival of winter and elderly people on low incomes are likely to be the worst affected. Insulation is a simple way to help reduce the loss of heat in the home and this is why we approached Solarwall to install loft and cavity wall insulation at Fothergil. The carbon footprint of the development is now substantially reduced keeping the residents warm and cosy this winter.”
