1: Heat Loss
Its quite simple- a house looses by far the greatest amount of heat through uninsulated walls. This is because bricks are porous and susceptible to the conditions outside. Hence, in winter, when the heating is turned off the heat is quickly dispersed. This is because convection and conduction are occuring. The cold comes in, taking away the warmth and leading to unnecessarily high fuel bills.Cavity-wall insulation is the most proven and cost-effective solution, making the home more energy-efficient by combatting heat-loss.
2: Benefits
Up to 30% off your heating bills*Reduces condensation & black mould. Increases warmth and comfort. Short payback period. Instant savings. Lifetime guarantee backed by a 25 year CIGA guarantee. The government supports C.W.I as an important contributor to energy efficiency. *Note: Savings based on government figures
3: Standards
Cavity-wall insulation is now standard in all houses built since 1983 - in accordance with the new Building Regulation Requirement.Local councils are having their properties insulated to modern standards, also many schemes are in operation to promote energy-efficiency. The current government initiative is the Energy Efficiency Committment (EEC) where the utiities are offering grant funding for cavity wall and loft insulation as part of their committment to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions from domestic properties
Assuring you quality: Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA) , British Board of Agrement (B.B.A) National Insulation Association (NIA)
4: How It's Done
Small holes are drilled in the mortar joints at metre intervals in diamond patterns on each elevation of the property. The insulation is pumped into the walls, through the holes, until the cavity is full. The holes are then matched up with matching mortar and we tidy up after ourselves, leaving your house just as we found it - except warmer!
5: Suitability
If your home was built after 1930, it is likely to be one of the 11 million cavity-walled properties in the country. Most properties of this kind can be succesfully insulated.Contact us by E-mail, Freephone 0800 1380079 or fill in our form and we will arrange a surveyor to call, offer a survey & information on grants which may be available.
LOFT INSULATION
You are losing a staggering 25% of heat through your loft, your existing loft insulation is often so old it has lost its thermal resistance and has flattened over the years. Current building regulations are to fit 10" (270mm) of loft insulation in new properties. We survey your property and check your existing insulation depth and then top up to 270mm by cross laying the insulation so you get maximum thermal resistance. We also check all your tanks and pipes and if they need updating we do that as well.Grants are available for loft insulation as well and it will often work out cheaper that D.I.Y ( and cleaner!)
